Von der Kamera weg schauend steht wohl Rudolf Ulrich Krönlein (4. von links), die anderen beiden Männer sind unbekannt. Einer der unbekannten Männer hält einen Gegenstand in der Hand. Es könnte sich um eine Broschüre oder ein Panorama handeln. Max Hofmeier stabilisiert die Hand des Mannes. Das Bild wurde an einem bekannten Aussichtspunkt in "Portofino Kulm" (so benannt nach dem gerade im Bau befindlichen Hotel des Schweizer Hoteliers Sebastiano Gaggini, das an die berühmten Hotels auf dem Rigi in der Schweiz erinnern sollte) aufgenommen. Seit dem Ersten Weltkrieg wurde der Name italianisiert in "Portofino Vetta".
